Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper

Alexander Rashidi Lawyers is seeking a capable and motivated Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our accounts and finance team on a part-time basis.

The Opportunity

Working closely with our accounts and finance team, you will assist with day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts administration, reconciliations, billing and financial record keeping.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills across a broad range of accounting and finance functions and work closely with our lawyers, administration team and management.

Experience with Xero or similar accounting software will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Processing invoices, payments, receipts and expenses.
  • Bank and account reconciliations.
  • Assisting with client billing and maintaining accurate matter-related financial records and reports.
  • Assisting with debtor monitoring and follow-up.
  • Assisting with payroll and related accounting administration.
  • Liaising with lawyers and administrative staff regarding billing and account enquiries.
  • Providing general accounts and administrative support.

We Are Looking for Someone With

  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and who takes pride in producing accurate work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with financial systems, spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality when dealing with client and financial information.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a professional team.
  • A reliable, proactive and collaborative approach with a willingness to learn.

Previous experience in a law firm, including exposure to legal billing or trust accounting, will be highly regarded but is not essential. Training and support will be provided to the right candidate.
